Your child is learning the five-paragraph essay format. It is very important that this format is followed. You can see the correct format Writer's Web.
 
There are several examples. Look specifically at The Five-Paragraph Essay. It is the presentation that I used to instruct your child.
 
The purpose of this essay was to write about themselves. Here is the specific Five-Paragraph Essay format for the "Me Essay":

Title

Paragraph 1: The Introduction
Topic Sentence (Main Idea for your essay - about you)
Example #1 (your family)
Example #2 (what you are good at)
Example #3 (what you like to do)
Concluding Sentence (restates the Topic Sentence)
 
Paragraph 2: Explains Example #1 (my family)
Topic Sentence (Example #1 from the Introduction - about your family)
3 Examples (prove the Topic Sentence about your family)
Concluding Sentence (restates the Topic Sentence)
 
Paragraph 3: Example #2 (what I'm good at)
Topic Sentence (Example # 2 from the Introduction - about what you're good at)
3 Examples (prove the Topic Sentence about what you are good at)
Concluding Sentence (restates the Topic Sentence)
 
Paragraph 4: Example #3 (what I like to do)
Topic Sentence (Example #3 from the Introduction - about what you like to do)
3 Examples (prove the Topic Sentence about what you like to do)
Concluding Sentence (restates the Topic Sentence)
 
Paragraph 5: Conclusion (basically restates Paragraph 1: The Introduction - the order of the sentences and the basic thoughts are the same)
