Parent Groups

Parent involvement in schools is critical. Volunteer parents help the teachers with their daily tasks and provide extra adult time for all students in the classroom. Additionally, they show their own kids they value education.

Parent groups plan numerous events which enhance the basic education program, such as the science fair at Kent Prairie Elementary. They also plan fundraisers to help buy "extras" like the playground equipment at Presidents Elementary and Eagle Creek Elementary. The Trafton Parent Club organizes the popular Trafton Fair which annually draws a huge crowd.

Parent groups also sponsor fall festivals and spring carnivals and help to purchase technology and other equipment for the schools. At Post Middle School, the parent group initiated the Student Recognition program, RAP. Each month students are selected for their special contributions, that may not be acknowledged otherwise.

AHS Booster Club

The parent group at AHS known as the AHS Straight "A" Booster Club. The Boosters organize activities directed toward boosting students' participation in the four A's: Academics, Activities, Arts, and/or Athletics.

The Boosters' mission is to support AHS programs while promoting sportsmanship, harmony, and well-being among students, parents, and community, and staff.

Membership is open to everyone wishing to join. Meetings are held the second Thursday of the month in the w Library.

Volunteers

Our schools welcome volunteers for a variety of tasks. You may help teachers in the classroom, help plan extracurricular activities, or assist with clerical tasks. The basic requirement for a successful volunteer is a desire to help students learn. Training is provided by each location for all new volunteers. Community members are encouraged to participate in Arlington's schools. A Washington State Background Check from must be on file for all volunteers.
