Releasing of Student Records & Information Arlington Public School will not release student cumulative record information to persons or agencies without parent or guardian written consent, with few exceptions. Under federal law, the district is authorized to forward student records to schools in another district which a student has transferred or to colleges or educational institutions to which a student is applying. First Day Reminders Please have identification on your child(ren) and on their belongings. Have your child ride the school bus both morning and afternoon to avoid confusion. The child and driver are both more conformable when they recognize each other. You can meet your child at the school bus and escort them to class. Absences Regular school attendance is necessary for mastery of the educational program provided to students of the district. All students are expected to be prompt and regular in school attendance. Absences due to illness or a health condition; a religious observance, when requested by a student's parent(s); school approved activities; family emergencies; and, as required by law, disciplinary actions or short-term suspensions shall be excused with appropriate notice from the parent(s). Parents are asked to contact the school when it is known that a child will not be in school. Complete attendance policy information is available at each school building and at the Administration office. |
Truancy Washington State Compulsory Attendance Law and Arlington Public Schools Policy 3120 requires that any child between eight (8) years of age and eighteen (18) years of age shall have the responsibility to, and therefore shall, attend school full time. Student absences from school shall be deemed excused or unexcited in accordance with Arlington Public Schools Policy 3122. Enacted as Chapter 312 of the Laws of 1995, the act is better know as "The Becca Bill". The legislature established as a matter of public policy the point at which schools can no longer tolerate unexcited absences. It shall be the duty of all administrators in the Arlington Public Schools to honor school policy, the procedures set forth by Snohomish County, and the laws of the state of Washington in all matters of truancy. Additional information regarding truancy is available at each school building and at the Administration Office. |
