We really enjoy CyberSurfari, an Internet scavenger hunt. With over 100 clues cleverly hidden in "child safe" areas of CyberSpace there is plenty of chance for skills to be built. We have learned the importance of reading and rereading the clues and then scanning text for key words from the clue. These skills should be very helpful when taking the Washington Assessment of Student Learning in April. Many students lose points when they take the test because they don't read the directions carefully or don't answer the problem completely. By working on a project that forces students to read and reread the problem over and over again in a fun and challenging manner, students are more likely to build those habits in all their work. Scanning text for important information is another critical skill that is developed with practice such as this. The focus, enthusiasm, and excitement for learning generated by this activity is really something to see. Take a look at our teams at work in the pictures!
